An article over at the Huff Pro (yeah, I know I know. This one has a source, though) is on whack a loons that call themselves “Sovereign Citizens” and think the big bad government is out to get them. They seem to believe that they are oppressed (I think depressed is a bit more like it) and see themselves as freedom fighters, even though cheating on their taxes and not paying traffic tickets seems to be their primary goals.
They call themselves sovereign citizens, U.S. residents who declare themselves above state and federal laws. Many don’t register children’s births, carry driver’s licenses or recognize the court system.
“These people really seem to feel that filing certain kinds of legal papers that are connected to their theories will somehow also magically have the power to alter relationships and grant things that otherwise would be unobtainable,” he [Michael Barkun, a retired Syracuse University political science professor] said.
The headline could very well read, “Petty Crimminals With Delusion of Granduer”, though. Check this shit out.
“I’m the Patrick Henry of the 21st century. I’m here to regain our freedom,” James McBride said in a jailhouse interview. “I’m going to, or die trying.”
And they don’t stop at whining. They’re paranoid nut jobs, too:
“At the heart of their belief system: The government creates a secret identity for each citizen at birth, a “straw man,” that controls an account at the U.S. Treasury used as collateral for foreign debt. File enough documents at the right offices and the money in those accounts can be used to pay off debt or make purchases worth thousands of dollars.”
Yeah, the government is going to make big money on your trailer house and 20 year old Ski-Do. At least the uni-bomber got off his ass and built himself a cabin in the woods. Well, this is what confused thinking leads to.
Whatever they’re calling themselves this year, they’re all paranoid tax cheats that want something for nothing. Forget your 1950’s anti-socialism rants, this is the real group that fucking up the system. At least socialists consider it a moral duty to pay their damn taxes.Explore posts in the same categories: Confused Thinking comment below, or link to this permanent URL from your own site.
