In the Judao-Christian religious traditions, Adam is considered to be the first human being, created directly by Yahweh, the creator deity. In the Mormon tradition, however, Adam is believed to be synonymous with the archangel Micheal, also known as the “ancient of days”, the being that cast Satan out of heaven. In some early Gnostic Christian sects, Adam was seen as a revealer of wisdom. The recently rediscovered Gnostic text the Apocalypse of Adam tells of how Adam and Eve were, in fact, more powerful than their creator Yahweh, but that the knowledge of this was lost in The Fall.
