More Stupid Nativity Bullshit

Well, it’s War on Christmas time again and, as we hang ornaments of prominent scientists on our tree, the Catholic League is attempting to stoke the fires of theocracy by encouraging states to put up religious icons in government buildings. This time, supplying the idols themselves.

“But the conservative Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights says it is just trying to spread holiday cheer by sending nativity scenes to governors in all 50 states.”

Well, I call bullshit on this. The Catholic League is an institution set up to fight battles such as this. They cannot possibly pretend that they are unaware of the implications. The charade only paints then as sneaky and manipulative and, let’s face it, dishonesty just isn’t an appealing character trait.

“In a letter last month, the Catholic League told governors and their chiefs of staff that the nativities were on their way and suggested they be displayed in capitol rotundas.”

Yeah. Well, I think we all know the ones that will play the game and which ones won’t. The temptation has been sent, let’s watch them bite. So, tempers are a flaring, the Catholic League is dangling traps, Bill O’Reilly is probably gabbing about it every night. Be prepared to have some one look at you like you’re starting a war if you say Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas to the wrong person.

  1. Kassul Says:

    Happy Monkey to all!

And yes, if the Catholic League genuinely doesn’t realize the implications of this, then they’re shockingly stupid and their supporters should consider sending their time/money on someone who has a better grasp of the law.
If they DO realize the implications(of course they do) then they Lie For Jesus. Ideally more Christians would take issue with that, but apparently few do.

Is anyone sending the governors some spaghetti? Perhaps some pirate regalia?

  2. I trust that the Cat-hole-lick League will be willing to share the legal fees with the states stupid enough to play into their game. I doubt the FfRF and Americans United for the Sep. of Church and State, are going to stand by and watch a clear violation of the 1st amendment’s establishment clause go unchallenged.

Catholics are beginning to annoy & disgust me more than the average theist.
